Obituary of Annalee Ethel Stevens

Stevens, Annalee “Lee” (August 31, 1931 – January 22, 2021)

Annalee passed away on January 22, 2021. She was predeceased by her eldest son, Brian James Stevens (2015), and is survived by her youngest son, Mark Stevens, granddaughters Amanda (Tom) Lamb, and Melissa Stevens, and great-grandchildren Joshua and Emily Lamb.  Lee was one-of-a-kind. She worked hard throughout her life to take care of herself and Mark by working as a bartender for the Legion in Niagara-on-the-Lake, as a hostess, a saleswoman in a jewelry shop, and for most of her working life, as a school bus driver. Lee especially loved driving school bus for “her kindergarteners” and took pride in teaching them manners, showing them love, and she absolutely loved dressing up for Halloween for them. As a mother, she took great pride in her sons and loved to go out for breakfasts. As a grandmother, Lee doted on her granddaughters and loved having the girls over for sleepovers, taking them to countless playgrounds, and allowing them to have dessert before dinner. Lee could always be counted on to remember birthdays and anniversaries, and always had a gift or card to help celebrate these occasions. Her Christmas presents were always very thoughtful and impeccably wrapped, she loved ribbons and bows. Lee loved reading the newspaper and always had “cut outs” of interesting articles or recipes to share with her sons and granddaughters. She took pride in always being stylish and polished, with matching jewelry and high heels for every outfit. As a great-grandmother, she loved watching her great-grandchildren grow and always appreciated their hugs and kisses. Lee did not let life’s difficulties bring her down, and she always persevered. She was a strong and independent woman who ended up driving across Canada for a vacation that was originally supposed to last for a few weeks! She also took her son, Mark to Graceland because he loves Elvis, and was known for driving a motorcycle and even an Isetta. This amazing woman will be missed and always remembered. A special thank you to Teresa MacLean who took special care of Lee, her “first” mother-in-law, over the past few years. The family would also like to thank the frontline workers at Garden City Manor.  In keeping with Lee’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. If desired, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by Lee’s family.
